GAYLORD, MI -- In Gaylord, hundreds of first responders from 15 Northern Michigan counties practiced for a terrorist attack.

It was just an exercise designed to test the area emergency response capabilities.

Exercise Director Tim London explains, “The fictitious scenario we are using involves a multi-site, coordinated terrorist strike.  This will involve dozens of agencies, and hundreds of responders, dealing with the aftermath of multiple explosions from Improvised Explosive Devices.”

High school students were acting as the victims of a bombing and first responders worked to secure the scene, collaborate, and deal with fictional hazardous materials at the site.
