EMMET COUNTY, MI -- The Emmet County Sheriff is investigating alleged inappropriate conduct between a Northern Michigan school employee and students.

Police say the victims, all students from Pellston Schools, came forward with complaints about the employee

The specifics and details of exactly what happened between the faculty member and students aren't being released.

"At this time, the original complaint we received on Wednesday involved a minor student, since that time, we've had another come forward and we're currently investigating a third," explained Emmet County Sheriff Pete Wallin.

Investigators say the three students all told similar stories about interactions with the employee that crossed the line, allegations the Sheriff is investigating.  Right now, no formal charges have been filed and the Sheriff is looking at the possibility of more victims.

“If there are more, we want to know about it," Wallin said.

In a statement released, Pellston School Superintendent Bill Tebbe said,

“Pellston Public Schools is fully cooperating with the Emmet County Sheriff's Department and the staff member was immediately placed on administrative leave, on Thursday.

"Due to the criminal investigation, we are not able to comment further at this time and will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement."

The Sheriff's Office has turned the investigation over to Prosecuting Attorney James Linderman, who tells 7&4 News he will decide if charges are warranted.

If you have any information, you're urged to contact the Emmet County Sheriff's Detective/Sergeant J.L. Sumpter at (231) 439-8901.
