TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City Area Public School Board is expected to act on the budget recommendations Monday evening.

The TCAPS district was facing about 10 million dollars in cuts but those have been whittled down to 6.2 million by including Federal Jobs Revenue funding and School Aid funds.

Cuts to busing and athletics are still on the table to make up the difference.  The cuts could mean fewer bus stops, cuts to management, and a new business model for athletics with the possibility of pay for play.

If the board acts on the recommendations, the next step is for the 2011-2012 budget to be adopted.  That is expected to take place in late June.
