TRAVERSE CITY -- An Interlochen man is behind bars, accused of several home invasions in downtown Traverse City.
21-year-old Ryan McDonald is facing two charges of Home Invasion and two charges of Larceny in a Building. He's accused of breaking into four homes last week while the home owners were sleeping.
On Tuesday a home in the 1700 block of Wayne Street was entered through an unlocked patio door. A cell phone and money were taken. During the same night, a home on the 400 block of 6th Street was entered through an unlocked door and a laptop was taken.
On Thursday, a home in the 400 block of Webster Street was entered through an unlocked door and a purse was taken. On Thursday another home in the 800 block of Washington Street was entered through an unlocked door and a video camera was taken.
Detectives from the Traverse City police Department identified the suspect when they became aware that he was in the Ann Arbor area trying to sell the property stolen in the Home Invasions.
A meet with the suspect was set up in the City of Cadillac when investigators posing as individuals who were interested in purchasing the property contacted the suspect and set up the meet.
The suspect showed up at the meeting with detectives from the City of Traverse City with the stolen property and was subsequently arrested. The suspect has confessed to his role in the Home Invasions and a majority of the property stolen has been recovered.
He is expected to be arraigned Monday on the charges.
