TRAVERSE CITY -- Several downtown Traverse City homeowners woke up to the realization they were targeted by thieves during the night.

The thieves hit four homes throughout the past few nights according to Traverse City Police Department.

On Tuesday a home in the 1700 block of Wayne Street was entered through an unlocked patio door.  A cell phone and money were taken.  During the same night, a home on the 400 block of 6th Street was entered through an unlocked door and a laptop was taken.

On Thursday, a home in the 400 block of Webster Street was entered through an unlocked door and a purse was taken.  On Thursday another home in the 800 block of Washington Street was entered through an unlocked door and a video camera was taken.

The Police Department is asking anyone with information on the crimes to call the TC Police Department at 231-995-5151 or the Silent Observer Tip Line at 231-947-8477.

With all of the targeted homes entered through unlocked doors residents are advised to stay safe by locking all doors and windows, especially at night.
