PETOSKEY -- UPDATE: Mark Williams, the man police say dressed as batman and was caught hanging off a downtown Petoskey building was released from the Emmet County Jail Thursday morning.

The judge set Williams bond at $20,000 and then ordered him to make contact with a counselor.

Williams, 31, is charged with trespassing and possession of a dangerous weapon after police say he dressed as a comic book caped crusader in Petoskey and was caught hanging off a downtown building.

“Well, I don't think it's the real Batman (laugh) but the costume he was wearing was pretty authentic and he certainly looked like Batman, said Petoskey Public Safety Director John Calabrese.

Police were called to the rooftop on E. Mitchell around 12:40 a.m.. The person calling into dispatch for help said the person was dressed as batman.  When officers arrived they found Williams hanging off the west wall of the building.

After police pulled batman back onto the roof they found a baton type of weapon, a can of chemical irritant spray and a pair of gloves.
