NEAR LUTHER -- Fire crews from the Department of Natural Resources, the U.S. Forest Service and volunteers battled a wildfire Monday afternoon in Lake County.
The fire was north of U.S. 10 and South of Luther in Cherry Valley Township. The fire burned about 152 acres but no buildings or homes were destroyed.
Flames were first spotted around 1:45 p.m. The fire was contained by 4 p.m.
7 & 4 Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Mark Watkins said the wind in the area was SE at 10 m.p.h, but dryness could have been the biggest obstacle firefighters faced.
The dry weather is a concern and has already led to some wildfires across northern Michigan this spring. To see details on the fires CLICK HERE.
While it's not known what sparked this blaze in Lake County, so far this year 38% of the wildfires were sparked by debris burning. 26% has been caused by equipment.
