With warmer weather on the way, farmers markets are getting started across all of Northern Michigan.
This weekend will mark the kick off for farmers markets in downtown Traverse City, Manistee, Boyne City and Frankfort; just to name a few.
While it's a little early to get much in the line of fresh fruits and veggies, organizers say you can still expect a great variety.
Rob Bacigalupi, Deputy Director of the Downtown Development Authority in Traverse City said, "It provides an opportunity for folks to get locally grown fresh products easily, in one place. It provides a venue for farmers to sell their products, which is not the easiest thing to do. But it also supports local agriculture."
Most markets get started around 8 in the morning and stay open til noon, but organizers say the best selection is more readily available the earlier you get there.
