GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY -- County Commissioners met this afternoon for an Ad Hoc Committee to review the 2011 budget and discuss possible means of reductions.

It was suggested that the Civic Center pool be closed for ten weeks during the Summer; which is the slow season for indoor swimmers.

Another possibility was to change a full work week to 37.5 hours instead of 40.

Dennis Aloia, Grand Traverse County Administrator said, "if we could get up around the 600,000 dollar number, that was pretty darn good and we're there; in my mind.  Just with what I've told you so far and frankly, we think without even looking at the extra revenue that's coming in, there's going to be money left over in salaries."

The budget is also based on 100 percent full staff, so if someone leaves, that money goes back into their bottom line.

A decision on the budget could come in as early as two weeks.
