GRAYLING, MI -- Flying a plane isn't cheap, especially now, as aviation gas hovers around five dollars.
But soon, pilots in Crawford County will have a place to fill up making it much more convenient.
Plans are taking off to offer fuel at the Crawford County Airport and starting today, the county is taking bids to provide the service.
$500,000 to build a fuel farm has been granted by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Pilots that use the airport say it will make it easier.
"If you have a bad weather day, or you just want to fly in the pattern or just stay around in the field, and you need fuel, you have to go somewhere else to purchase and everything, so it does make it easier for you," said pilot Karl Klimek.
Camp Grayling officials will oversee the bidding process as the federal government owns the airfield.
The deadline to award a bid is June 3rd.
