TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- As the country soaks in Osama Bin Laden’s death, a local 9/11 survivor is reflecting on how close he came to losing it all.

On September 11, 2011, the wrath of Bin Laden came crashing down just two blocks away from HT Snowday’s New York City Apartment. He was asleep with his wife and 4-day-old baby.

“The first plane hit from the south, so that was a bit of a rumble in the neighborhood. We didn't really notice. The second plane was probably what clued us. It went right over our apartment,” Snowday said.

The Snowday’s lives were forever changed. Happy to be alive, they packed up their things and moved back to Traverse City. More than 10 years later, they now have some closure.

“It was a surprise. I think that I had grown used to the idea that this (Bin Laden) is somebody who would really never be brought to justice. I’m extremely impressed and honored by the fact that the people who serve us overseas never gave up on their goal,” said Snowday.
