NEWAYGO COUNTY, MI -- Rescue teams saved two people from a raging river Saturday afternoon.

Shortly before noon, Newaygo County Central Dispatch received a report of an overturned boat. Police said two victims were trapped on the west side of Devil’s Hole in the Muskegon River.

The Newaygo Fire Department and several other agencies responded. Both victims were rescued successfully. Police said one person was found clinging to a tree, and the other was trapped under the boat. Both are listed as stable and in good condition.

Official said that people are advised to stay off the Muskegon River until the Flood Warning has been lifted.
