(AP) -- More people are cutting the lines on standard telephones and sticking to strictly cell phones.

A new study says Michigan ranks 12th when it comes to the percentage of people who only have wireless phones.

The report says 29 percent of Michigan adults were living in homes without traditional landline phones last year. In Wayne County, the share was higher, about 35 percent.

Those numbers have risen steadily since 2007.

Scientist Stephen Blumberg of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says people with lower incomes are more likely to use only wireless phones.

The trend is also apparent in the 7 & 4 Newsroom.  80& of anchors, reporters and producers use only wireless phones.
