ALPENA, MI -- Alpena police have identified a person of interest in a home invasion case.

Police said they receive a report of a break-in Friday afternoon around 4 p.m. The homeowners said their backdoor was kicked in and several items, including cash, were missing.

Police assessed the scene and established a suspect. That man, who lives near the scene of the crime, cooperated with police and told officers that he was only looking for money to pay off an old drug debt, police said.

The police reports have been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for issuances of warrants. No names are being released at this time.
