JOYFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI -- Linda Ramsey said, "I'm not against alternative energy.  I just don't want it in my front yard."

That seemed to be the overall feeling of many residents that attended tonight's meeting in Joyfield Township.

Kurt Krueger said, "We have no zoning, we have no regulations, there's no guarantees on noise levels, shadow flicker, how far they're gonna be from my property line.  They talk about 1,000 ft from residences but the map that I've seen has one 15 ft from my property line."

Despite the concerns, township leaders are hesitant saying, "As far as the board is concerned, that this zoning has to be funded.  We're not, we're not gonna go into it and two years down the road run out of money and have to drop it."

There is very little information coming from Duke Energy but a preliminary map has been proposed to the FAA and that map has a lot of residents concerned.

Matthew Emery, a Joyfield Township resident said, "Most recently we had asked them to consider a moratorium on wind development and our township.  We had also asked them to consider an ordinance that would allow information to be required of the developers concerning their intentions in our township."

Tonight, the Joyfield Township board formed a committee that will further investigate the cost of implementing zoning restrictions.  They also voted to have an appointed lawyer study a similar ordinance from Ogden Township in southeast Michigan with the possibility of adopting it in the future.
