PRESQUE ISLE CO. -- A Presque Isle County man is hospitalized following a dramatic rescue at an area lake.

Emergency crews were called to Lake Emma in Bismarck Township Thursday around 1:45 p.m. on a report that a man fell through the ice.

The Sheriff's Office tells 7 & 4 News the lake is in a remote area.  One of the few residents who live on the lake noticed the man ice fishing, and when they looked a second time didn't see him and called for help.

The 63-year-old was pulled from the water with the help of a hovercraft, but spent 45 minutes in the frigid water.   He was taken to Cheboygan Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

The man's family says he is an avid ice fisher and only missed two days of fishing on the lake the entire season.

We are working to bring you more details on this amazing survival story coming on on 7 & 4 News at 5 and 6.
