BUCKLEY -- A Northern Michigan student and athlete was killed Friday in a crash in North Carolina on the way home from spring break.

Haley Baldinger of Buckley was driving home from in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina when she crossed the center line and hit a commercial vehicle. The car then hit a dump truck head on. According to the North Carolina State Highway patrol it happened around 8:30 a.m. Friday on U.S 1 about six miles south of Rockingham, North Carolina. Haley was killed.

Haley's sister Hannah and their friend Page Gokey were also in the car. The school's superintendent says they are both hospitalized with serious injuries, but are expected to recover.
