VANDERBILT, MI -- With the news that the Bay Mills Casino in Vanderbilt has been shut down for now, we spoke to a few businesses that say this is bad news.
The Elk Horn Grill owner says business has been improving since the casino opened at the end of last year and he believes that if the casino stays closed, it could hurt the community.
He says with food deliveries to the casino and people stopping into his restaurant to grab something to eat, it generates about a quarter of his business.
"Look at Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt has needed something like this for a long time, you know, I mean, and now they're going to break our back, or try to break our back, so we'll see what happens," said Jims Ormsbee, Elk Horn Grill owner.
We also caught up with Vanderbilt Village President Edward Posgate Tuesday. He says the casino was a shot in the arm when it opened and it closing is a shot in the other arm and paralyzing.
