TRAVERSE CITY -- A local hotel chain held a fundraiser to help out some potential new best friends.

Summerside Properties invited the public to Cambria Suites in Traverse City tonight for a raffle and fundraising event to benefit Cherryland Humane Society.

Traverse City area merchants like the Cook's House, Best Western and the Dog Bakery donated over 50 prizes for the event.

Ron Robinson, Director of Hotel Operations for Summerside Properties said, "It's been a great turn out and it just goes to show that the Humane Society has a lot of supporters in Traverse City and everyone wants to help out the cats and dogs that live out there."

Organizers say they raised over 1,000 dollars tonight.

Of course the entire event was all for the pets, and there were pictures of all the pets currently up for adoption at the humane society.

And even though the event is over, Cherryland is always accepting donations.
