CHEBOYGAN, MI -- The City of Cheboygan has filled a vacancy that has been open for more than a year and Tuesday night, they swore him in.
Dale Stuart has been hired as the new Cheboygan City Manager.
He'll take over managerial duties immediately.
He has a history of municipality management downstate, and says he's excited about the opportunity to work in Cheboygan.
"I'm thrilled with the opportunity, I'm looking forward to it. There's so many great things going on in this city, and I'm just happy to be a part of it," said Stuart.
"He left a very good impact on all seven council members, he was unanimously picked by city council as our first choice," said Cheboygan Mayor Richard Sangster.
41 people applied for the position, and the city interviewed seven candidates.
Stuart says his first task will be to learn the visions and goals of the city and then work with the council to figure out ways to get things done.
