EVART, MI -- A person has confessed to burning down a storage building that is used to store the City of Evart’s recreation equipment.

Shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday, the fire was reported just east of the City of Evart on 6 Mile Road. Evart Firefighters said they arrived to find a fully engulfed structure fire.

At the scene, witnesses described a person they saw running from that area just before the fire started. Later in the evening, police received a call saying the suspect had been located. That person was questioned by police and eventually confessed to setting the fire.

They are currently being held at the Osceola County Jail. Their name is being withheld pending an arraignment.
