TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- Are you feeling a little tired tonight?
Maybe you're dozing off right now.
With Daylight Saving Time kicking in over the weekend, doctors say you're not alone.
In fact, Sleep Doctor David Walker of Sleep Diagnostics of Northern Michigan said this afternoon, you were eight percent more likely to get in a car accident on your drive home.
It's not typically Sunday when people are tired.
Statistics show the Monday after the spring forward, people are simply sleep deprived.
"With that one hour of deprivation, of lack of sleep, we're more tired, run down, fatigued. Forgetfulness, concentration, decreased coordination and response time can occur, especially in the afternoon, when our normal alert period of time is slightly reduced," said Dr. Walker.
Dr. Walker says the best way to prepare your internal sleep clock is by 15 to 30 minute increments of going to bed earlier before the time switch.
