Search for missing man

GRANT -- Deputies with the Newaygo County Sheriff's Office and volunteers are searching for a dementia patient, missing since early Tuesday morning.

Family members called for help after waking up to find 61 year old Kenneth Smith missing from his home.  They believe he walked away from 9788 Poplar Ave. in Grant sometime between midnight and 5 AM.

Deputies searched door to door in the neighborhood, as well as by car and snowmobile.  Michigan State Police have also been contacted to help in a helicopter search.

City Watch Notification System was also activated which contacts residences in the area by phone.

Kenneth Smith is 5’ tall, 100lbs with grey hair and a light beard.  He is believed to be wearing a blue fleece shirt with blue jean pants.
