HOMESTEAD TWP. -- A family of five is homeless following a late night fire.

It happened at 13345 Homestead Rd. near Benzonia around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

When fire crews arrived they found the single story home fully engulfed in flames and smoke.  Firefighters fought the blaze for more than three hours.

No one was hurt but the family did not have insurance.  The American Red Cross is helping the family and the community is also stepping up to help.  A fund is being set up at the Central State Bank in Beulah.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
