TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- Traverse City Commissioners held a study session Monday night to discuss the 2011-2012 budget.

City manager Ben Bifoss said the city may have to do without more than $200,000 it normally receives from the State.

“The statutory amount of revenue sharing from the state is about $200,000 per year. That is a fairly significant amount,” Bifoss said.

City leaders hope to find out Thursday whether or not they will receive that money.

Bifoss said the first draft of the City budget will include a mill levy reduction of at least .1 mills as an offset to the County Senior Center levy.

Monday night, the commission also focused on infrastructure spending and continued discussions with the Metro Fire Department about possible department consolidation.
