TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- After several days of laughs, the Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival is rolling out of town.
On Sunday, the State Theater hosted a “Coen Brothers Day” to honor comedy in cinema. The film list included Fargo, The Big Lebowski and O Brother, Where Art Thou?
A State Theater volunteer said she has seen an increase in people attending festival activates this year.
Along with laughs, the weekend also brought big business to Traverse City. Hotel managers say they have been booked the past several days.
“We're really happy to have the Vasa here, Micro Brew Fest and the Comedy Festival. They bring in a lot of business. We love the festivals in our area; it helps all of the hotels,” said Cambria Suites Manager Jack Buist.
The Comedy Art Festival is a project of the Traverse City Film Festival. It is hosted by Michael Moore and Jeff Garlin.
