GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, MI -- A man has been arrested for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon in Grand Traverse County.

Just after 3 a.m. Sunday, a Petoskey man, 27, walked into a Walgreens on US-31 carrying a double barrel shotgun.

Police said the suspect ordered everyone out of the store and then stayed in the store by himself.  Grand Traverse Sheriff's Deputies and Traverse City Police Officers set up a perimeter around Walgreens.

While the perimeter was being established, the suspect exited Walgreens carrying the shotgun.  Police said the suspect then got into his vehicle.

A short time later, the suspect exited his vehicle without the shotgun. Officers and a Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office canine converged on the suspect.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.  The suspect was bitten by the canine during the arrest and was taken to Munson medical Center for evaluation, police said.

The man is currently being held in the Grand Traverse County Jail.
