WEXFORD CO. -- 7&4 News has an update on the Wexford County Animal Control fund investigation.

The Michigan State Police have confirmed that a detective with the 7th District Head Quarters of the MSP has been assigned by the Attorney General's office to look into allegations of misuse. The Attorney General would not confirm or deny the investigation because it is protocol.

In December, some Wexford County Commissioners wanted to know why money from the millage was being spent on things like jewelry, parties, counter-terror operations, a hotel bills, and the Don't Drink and Drive campaign.

Sheriff Gary Finstrom did appear before the board in December, but did not answer their questions directly. He says he has been advised not to respond, but told commissioners that he keeps detailed track of every purchase.
