GARFIELD TOWNSHIP -- In Grand Traverse County tonight, talks of a New Brewery are underway.

The planning commission for Garfield Township took public comment tonight on a plan for a new brewery and tasting room that would be called Brewery Terra Firma.

It would go in across the street from the Arbors of Traverse apartment complex south of Traverse City.

Deputy Planner, Brian VanDenBrand said, "The majority of this land will be used for agricultural purposes to produce crops that are used in the brewing process. It's really a neat way of preserving open space here, this is a rural area and we want to make sure that we protect that rural character, while at the same time bringing business to the community. So it's pretty, pretty unique."

A positive recommendation from the planning commission does not necessarily mean that the site plans will be approved.

However, organizers say they are hopefull.
