House fire south of Suttons Bay
ELMWOOD TWP. -- UPDATE: More information is being released after a house fire Wednesday night. The fire shut down M-22 for more than two hours to help crews get a clear path to the blaze.
The fire sparked around 5:40 PM at 9557 S.W. Bay Shore Drive (M-22) just south of Suttons Bay in Elmwood Township.
M-22 was closed to traffic until 8:00 PM Wednesday so crews could get fire equipment in and out of the area quickly.
No one was home at the time of the fire. A passing motorist saw the smoke and flames and called 911.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
