35th Annual Sno-Drift scheduled this weekend
MONTMORENCY CO., MI -- It's probably fair to say that most of us don't really enjoy driving in the snow, but in Montmorency County, a group of about 50 racers live for it.
Friday, the 35-th annual Sno-Drift begins in Lewiston.
Racers from across the country and even around the world will be tearing up the back roads.
This race is part of the Rally American Group Championship Series.
According to race organizers, it's something you have to see.
"There's nothing like this in Northern Michigan, you have snowmobiles, you have ATV's, and all that, but race cars, riding the roads, at regular speeds, hitting stages, and driving up to 130 miles per hour in ice and snow, that's exceptional,” said Phil LaMore, one of the Sno-Drift organizers.
"We cross country race these cars, so having one, you know, an hour and a half away from home is nice," said professional Travis Hanson.
Travis Hanson is from Traverse City and will be in the race.
If you want to check it out, races are in Atlanta Saturday at 9.
