HOUGHTON LAKE -- A Roscommon County man is dead and two others hurt after two snowmobiles collide.

It happened on Houghton Lake around 7:30 PM Saturday.  The Roscommon County Sheriff said the preliminary investigation shows a snowmobile driven by a Houghton Lake man was travelling north when he was hit on the left side by another snowmobile.  The second snowmobile was driven by a downstate resident and held a passenger who was also from downstate.

The Houghton Lake man was flown to a hospital in Saginaw where he died from his injuries.  The two other people are also hospitalized but their conditions are not known.

Investigators are still attempting to determine what caused the crash, but no further details, including names for the victims involved, are being released until the investigation is complete.

A Crawford County snowmobiler was airlifted to the hospital after she hit a tree with her sled Sunday.  Details on the crash are available by clicking on the link below.
