TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- Ken Swanson, CEO of Traverse City-based Shoreline Fruit, LLC., was recently named a 2011 Michigan Master Farmer.
The Michigan Master Farmer award recognizes excellence in farming, industry leadership, and community engagement. It is presented annually by Michigan Farmer magazine, Michigan Farm Radio Network, and the Michigan Agri-Business Association.
Swanson has served as CEO of Shoreline Fruit since 2007 and during that time has helped expand Shoreline’s product line and customer base. In addition to his leadership position with Shoreline Fruit, Swanson has served as an agricultural entrepreneur and industry consultant for many years. He is the founder of Shady Lawn Farms, a 3,500 acre cash crop farm located in Gratiot County, MI. as well as SLF Management Services and SLF Grain, a grain storage and marketing company.
Swanson also managed the financial services division of Greenstone Farm Credit Services from 1997-2004.
Swanson has been active in leadership positions in the agricultural industry, including serving on the Michigan Farm Bureau Ag Commodities and Policy Development Committees, Michigan Corn Marketing Board, and Michigan Ethanol Committee.
