TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- Firefighters said one man is in serious condition after an apartment fire in Traverse City.

The Traverse City Fire Department was called to an apartment building at 790 Center Place just before 1 a.m. Saturday.

Firefighters said they entered the apartment and found a bed that was on fire.

During the blaze, one man was rushed to Munson Medical Center by North Flight EMS. He was later transferred to Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, officials said.

As the fire was brought under control, 11 other apartments were evacuated. No other injuries were reported.

Fire investigators said the cause of the fire is accidental.
