LANSING (AP) -- Now that Republican Gov. Rick Snyder has given his first State of the State address, he next has to lay out the details.
He plans to call for replacing the Michigan Business Tax with a 6 percent corporate net income tax when he rolls out his budget proposal in mid-February.
He hasn't said yet how he'll tackle the shortfall of about $1.8 billion in the budget year that starts Oct. 1, or what he'll do if switching to a corporate tax deepens the hole to $3.3 billion.
He also didn't give details Wednesday on what he would do to reform government and education.
He says he'll flesh out his plans with a special message to the Legislature in March on government reform and another in April on education.
