Wharton makes changes to City Opera House
TRAVERSE CITY -- The City Opera House is starting the New Year with some major changes.
Michigan State University's Wharton Center for the Performing Arts, which is in charge of the operations and finances for the City Opera House tells 7&4 News that after evaluating job functions, they found ways they can consolidate the duties of staff members. With these changes come the elimination of two full-time employees: Diana Barrie, the current general manager, and Katie Granger the event services manager.
Traverse City resident Kristi Dockter will now assume the duties of full-time Director of Operations and Marketing. She starts her new position on January 17th.
"We've had a successful year but realize we can be more efficient by stream-lining the duties of operations and marketing into one position. We are also increasing the hours of our part time staff and recruiting key volunteers," says Opera House Board Co-chair Sara Harding.
