GRATIOT CO. -- An Alma man, already serving time in prison for sexually assaulting a teenager, was back in court facing new charges after officials say he tried to hire someone to kill his victim and one of her family members.

Dennis McGillis, 50, was sentenced last month to 5-15 years in prison for first-degree Criminal Sexual Conduct.  McGillis was back in Gratiot County District Court Monday, charged with two counts of Solicitation of Murder.

Court officials say McGillis tried to hire someone to kill the two people while he was in the Gratiot County Jail in December.

He will be back in court for a preliminary exam on January 14.

He faces up to life in prison if found guilty of the new charges.
