Record breaking New Year's Eve in Traverse City
TRAVERSE CITY -- Organizers for the Cherry-T Ball Drop in downtown Traverse City say the second time around was a huge success.
It is estimated that approximately 10,000 to 12,000 people were at the event, twice the amount of people that attended last year. The event's co-founder, Thom Darga says he is encouraged by the number of businesses and restaurants that decided to stay open for the celebration. Restraurants like Red Ginger, reported record breaking sales.
Darga says the police department didn't have any major problems with crowd control, they only dealt with a couple small crowd control issues.
