In May, the "Meridian Boundary Fire" forced thousands to evacuate and destroyed more than 20 homes.  As people searched for answers on where the fire was spreading and where shelters were set up, they logged onto UpNorthLive.com.  The story below became a way for the community to reach out to one another - with 272 people posting updates on what they knew to help their neighbors.

The next top story of 2010 was more recent.  The snow storm on December 12-13 forced hundreds of schools to shut down and also sparked a community debate on school closing policies.

On January 15 a plane coming into Cherry Capital Airport brought concern after reports of a passenger with "suspicious behavior." The FBI was brought in along with other emergency crews after the plane landed.  After the investigation no arrests were made.

The fourth top story of 2010 only brought in 8 comments, but it makes this list due to the amount of people who clicked on it!  It also took place during the recent winter storm referenced above for the school closing story.  Micah Appel and Ryan Keenan spent the day surfing on West Grand Traverse Bay.  This video was shown across the country and continues to be one of the top items "shared" on facebook.  As of this story posting it has already been placed on more than 1,754 facebook pages.
