TRAVERSE CITY -- The Great Lakes Children Museum kicked off their week of holiday break activities for kids Monday.

This is the second year that the museum is hosting this free week of special winter activities.

During Monday's event volunteers helped the kids make treats for their neighborhood birds.

Each day of the week will feature a new event like nature and snow crafts, and a geo dome adventure.

On Friday there will be a 'Countdown to Noon' event--so kids have a chance to celebrate their own New Years Eve.

Director of Children's Museum says, "When school's out we know we get older kids here and we like to give them special activities to stay busy with. It's the week after Christmas and we know that families have kids in from out of town and we want to give them something to do."

The activities start up at 10am each day and go until 3pm.

List of Activities:

Monday, December 27: Feed the Birds: Making treats for your neighborhood birds

Tuesday, December 28: Flakey Fun: Snowy science and crafts

Wednesday, December 29: Geo Dome Adventure

Thursday, December 30: Wild and Wintry: Nature crafts for the season

Friday, December 31: Countdown to Noon: New Year's Eve for kids
