LAKE ANN -- A Lake Ann entrepreneur debuts a new iPhone app designed to help Traverse City visitors get connected to the area's best destinations.

In her 38 years--Brandy Wheeler has already accomplished more than most. She's the mother of two and the owner of a popular marketing service called 'Mealtickets & Unusual Ideas."

And now with her creation of the ‘Traverse-Traveler’ iPhone app she can add entrepreneur to her resume.

Wheeler says, “The ‘Traverse Traveler’ app has been a great way for me to keep up with the technology demands of my customers and as a small business owner. I try really hard to meet my customer's needs."

Three months ago Wheeler teamed up with a developer to get the free ‘Traverse Traveler’ iPhone app in motion.

And now this convenient, interactive resource is available to help visitors connect with the area's hottest destinations--like wineries, restaurants, and events.

But with thousands of similar apps out there what sets this application apart?

Wheeler says, "It's written by locals either by myself or by the businesses that are submitting their information so you know as a visitor you’re getting local authentic information."

The app is packed with unique features like the 'Near Me' icon which pinpoints the 25 listings closest to the iPhone user.

Wheeler explains, "If you’re in Suttons Bay and looking for a restaurant for the evening you can touch the near me and it will pop up with everything that's near by."

Wheeler says the app's maps and directions make it easy to get around, “Trying to navigate you’re way from one winery to another in northern Michigan is not an easy task especially when your trying to get there the fastest with back roads so this will take you from point a to point b and show you the exact path you need."

‘Traverse Traveler’ also allow you to utilize social networking.

"If you’re at a winery and you've just tasted a really great wine and you want to let you friends know about it you can post it right from the app to Facebook or Twitter,” Wheeler says.

The release of the app is just in time for the holiday rush.

Wheeler says, "You have a lot of people who are traveling up to northern Michigan for vacations, Christmas break, they want to go skiing or take their kids tubing or skating and they can use this app as a resource to find that information."

Any business looking to promote their services to tourist are encouraged to head to the ‘Traverse Traveler’ website and register for free to get a listing.

Also to download the application you can go to the Apple website or to the ‘Traverse Traveler’ website.
