VILLAGE OF LAKE ANN -- Whovillle wasn’t the only stop on the Grinch’s list this holiday. One Village in Northern Michigan got also got a visit from the green menace who tried to steal their holiday cheer.

Village of Lake Ann Council President Dale Flaherty says, "We discovered on Friday that some of our Christmas decorations were gone, therefore the Grinch visited the Village of Lake Ann."

For over eight years Lake Ann volunteers have transformed the Village's Burnett Park into a winter wonderland--jam packed with festive decorations.

But this year the work of a Grinch has left the park looking bare. A six foot Christmas tree with twinkling lights and shiny outdoor packages are now missing from under the pavilion. Four Christmas wreaths were snatched off the park's fence and a hand made Rudolph reindeer was stolen from the Santa sled display.

Lake Ann resident Jan Curtice says it's tough to see after all the hard work. She says, "I’m mostly disappointed that something's been done that the community so enjoys then to have someone come in and take something from it, I think they took from the whole community."

Curtice says it's not about the money, "The cost of the items taken is minimal, it's the sentimental value that's gone just takes a little something away from Christmas."

But not enough to spoil the village's holiday sprit.

Flaherty says, "Just because a couple of decorations are missing its not going to ruin Christmas for everyone."

Curtice adds, "It's just an element of Christmas that's a little lesson this year because of what happened but no nothings going to change."

Benzie county sheriff's office is looking into the incident. Lake Ann volunteers are offering a reward in hopes of getting the items back. They ask if you have any information to call them.
