CHARLEVOIX CO., MI -- During this season of giving, one Northern Michigan charity is serving as Angels to Veterans in need.

Wednesday, they made their first donation, which will keep the electricity on for one family.

You may remember a few months ago I told you about this group based in Petoskey.

They wanted to help those who have fought for our freedom by giving them a helping hand.

After a lot of hard work, they were able to help their first family, a family that will be warm this winter.

Lawrence McQuiston suffered severe injuries to his spine by an I-E-D blowing up his vehicle while serving in Iraq.  It hasn't been an easy road since he returned home from the war.

"They send us a bill, it's usually a disconnect notice because we're always behind," said McQuiston.

Lawrence says Great Lakes Energy has worked with him on his electric bill, but he says the hole he was in continued to get deeper.  When he left to pay his electric bill in Boyne City, he knew he would be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

The Angel Ambassadors are a group of three women based in Petoskey with a mission of helping Veterans in need.  If you remember, in October, I spotlighted Margie Russell, Marcie Newton, and Cathy Luginbuhl with the launch of their new charity.  They helped their first vet, Lawrence, by paying the 400 dollars he owed for electricity.

"The emotions run really high because it's a small thing but such a huge thing," said the Angel Ambassadors.

Fellow Americans helping an American hero survive.

"We’re finally caught up on our light bill, where out light bill balance is "0,"” said McQuiston.

"We haven't had a zero balance for a long time, and we've always owed something," said Lawrence’s wife Tracee.

Just in time for the holidays and now, Christmas dreams may be delivered.

“Coming from our hearts and what we want to do for our Veterans," said the Angel Ambassadors.

“They are truly angels, they really are," said McQuiston.
