TRAVERSE CITY -- A Traverse City man is accused of robbing a gas station clerk by knife point.
It happened Tuesday night around around 10:15 p.m. at the Mutual Gas Station at 901 East Front St. in Traverse City.
The police received a call to check on the situation after the clerk called another employee at home asking for the combination for the safe. The employee who was called knew something wasn't right and called 911.
City Police were at the gas station within one minute from the call and saw the clerk lying on the floor of the business. The officer also saw a man running away from the area. Another officer began chasing the suspect and he allegedly dropped a knife. He was arrested a short time later.
The clerk told police she was closing up for the night when she was confronted by the masked man who threatened her with the knife if she didn't hand over money.
The 18-year-old arrested for the crime is facing armed robbery charges.
