BENZIE COUNTY -- Friday kicked off the 9th annual "Festival of Trees" at the Benzie Area Historical Museum.

The museum teams up with Habitat for Humanity of Benzie County.  Christmas trees and wreaths that are decorated by community businesses, churches, charities, and schools are on display and up for auction. All the proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity to build new houses for those in need.

Habitat for Humanity of Benzie County Chairman Ellen Scott says "This is one of our most popular fundraisers and successful ones and the money of course does go for habitat for humanity in Benzie County to build homes for people that need a good decent home to live in."

The festival also has a special exhibit from the World War II era called "Home for the Holidays." The festival and silent auction will wrap up this Sunday at 4:00pm.
