Spa Magazine Ranks Crystal Spa #1
THOMPSONVILLE -- When you think of Crystal Mountain Resort this time of year, skiing and snowboarding may come to mind, but another facet of the resort is gaining some international attention and winning awards.
Spa Magazine honored Crystal Spa with a Silver Sage Award ranking it the Top Hotel/Resort Spa in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest. The magazine’s viewers chose the winner of this award, and PR Director Brian Lawson says it’s a testament to the spa’s employees and designers of the 2-year old facility.
Lawson says, "We're very excited about that, very proud to be on top of a list of spas that include Waldorf Astoria in New York City. I’m very pleased we have a great place here."
The Spa also received two awards for environmental practices. One is from SpaFinder, an international directory. Crystal Spa is the only LEED-certified spa in the entire Midwest and only one of eight in the nation.
Stephanie Scott, Spa Sales Manager says, "I think our environmental focus is what makes us different. It’s an escape, a getaway, you come here and really sense that slowdown."
Lawson says, “Much of it is in the design. Much of it you can't point out because it’s hidden in the dry wall. The bamboo flooring is one example.”
Another reason why the spa is so popular amongst its visitors is because of the relaxation lounge and meditation garden.
