More than 200 vets showed up for the remembrance program
GAYLORD, MI -- Gaylord Middle School honored men and women Veterans Thursday.
For the 14th year, Gaylord Middle School Principal Jerry Belanger and his students hosted Veterans for a program to remember and salute their service.
More than 200 men and women showed up today to be greeted by the students.
The emotional program made sure Veterans knew their sacrifice would never be forgotten.
"It’s great to see the old Veterans, the young Veterans, you know, they get emotional, they cry, the ceremony they put on, I just think the Veterans really, really enjoy this ceremony," said Otsego County Sheriff, former Vietnam Vet, Jim McBride.
“Somewhat the refection. Somewhat to see the other people from the area that have served, you see them," said Korean War Veteran Tony Mankowski.
Both of the men say this type of program allows the younger generations to remember their freedom is not free.
At the end of the ceremony, Principal Belanger also reminded the students to thank those who have served in past wars, because from last year to this year, 14 veterans passed away who have attended the ceremony.
