LANSING (AP) -- The Michigan House has approved a revamped proposal aimed at distributing about $316 million in federal money to schools.
The bill approved Wednesday by a 97-2 vote would give the state's lowest-funded schools $222 more per pupil. The highest-funded schools would get $111 more per pupil.
Schools between the two extremes would get the federal money based on a sliding scale.
The bill now goes to the Senate.
Part of a previous plan to distribute the federal money was vetoed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm last month. She said part of the formula didn't meet federal requirements and could cause Michigan to lose the money.
The veto doesn't affect the $13 billion school aid budget passed earlier this year.
