CADILLAC, MI -- A terrifying moment for a college student in Cadillac happened at 8:30pm last night.
A man tried to abduct a Baker College female student at knife point in the parking lot of the Cadillac campus and now the search is on for the man who did it.
Baker college students were alerted last night about the attempted abduction.
One student, Jeniffer Price was particularly scared and thought it could have happened to her,"I was stunned...I was speechless."
Price is a student at Baker College is feeling uncomfortable after hearing that a classmate was almost abducted from the campus parking lot.
Sheriff of Wexford County Gary Finstrom says, "It appears to be a stranger and a random act, the investigators are working with the security at baker college."
School leaders are taking extra steps to calm students nerves and keep them safe.
President of Baker College Robert Van Dellen says," We have cameras throughout the entire campus and we also have cameras out in the parking lot and of course the parking lot is very well lit...we have trained professional safety officers on duty at all times the college is open. I am having two officers on duty tonight and tomorrow night and we'll evaluate the situation to see if we want to have two officers on duty next week."
But Price says the security measures at the college may not be enough,"Last year was my first year and there was only one security truck patrolling the area...I'd like to see at least another one, making sure woman are okay and even guys because it could happen to guys but I'd like to see another security truck patrolling the campus."
The Wexford County Sheriff's office is also spreading a safety message that students should walk on campus with at least two other people.
Sheriff Finstrom says "if they're exiting the campus or their classes and going out into the parking lot, if they could just walk with two other people and kind of watch each other and if there's numbers like that, then this type of event would be very unlikely to happen."
The Sheriff's Office is also reviewing any surveillance cameras that may have caught the suspect on tape.
