There's a battle brewing over whether you can be fired for posting not-so-nice things about your boss online.

The National Labor Relations Board says this is the first complaint about social media and the workplace. The case involves a Connecticut woman who was fired over what she said on Facebook.

Dawnmarie Souza worked for American Medical Response - an ambulance company. Someone complained about her work. officials say the company denied her a union rep. so she went home and complained about her supervisor on Facebook, prompting a lot of other complaints from co-workers.

Then, the company fired her.

The National Labor Relations Board says the firing was illegal, that employees who talk about their work conditions, in person or online, are protected.

AMR's policy prohibits employees from making negative remarks about the company. Labor attorneys say the problem is on social media it's not like chatting with co-workers in the breakroom.

A hearing's set for January 25th.
